Scriber Pro is a privacy-first transcription application designed to process your audio and video files entirely on your device. We believe your data should stay yours, which is why Scriber Pro transcribes completely offline and prioritizes your privacy above all else.

OVERVIEW

Scriber Pro is built to keep your information local and under your control. No accounts, no tracking, no uploads.

WHAT WE COLLECT

We collect NO personal data.

Scriber Pro operates entirely on your local macOS device and does not:

  • Send your audio or video files anywhere
  • Transmit transcription results to external servers
  • Collect analytics or usage data
  • Require user accounts or registration
  • Track your activity or behavior

HOW SCRIBER WORKS

Scriber Pro is built with:

  • C++: High-performance transcription engine
  • Rust: Memory-safe media processing
  • Swift: Native macOS interface

All processing happens locally on your Mac. Your files never leave your device.

ONLINE FEATURES (OPTIONAL)

Two features connect to websites, and only when you use them:

  • YouTube fetches the captions of the video you paste, directly from YouTube.
  • Web Fetch loads the page you paste and fetches the audio of the video you pick, directly from that site. The audio is transcribed on your Mac and then deleted.
  • If you sign in to a site in Web Fetch, macOS keeps that sign-in on your Mac, like a browser's saved login. It is never sent to us.

Turn either feature off in Settings and it never connects. Nothing about you or your files is sent to us.

DATA STORAGE

LOCAL STORAGE ONLY

  • All transcriptions are stored locally on your Mac
  • You control where files are saved (default: next to original file)
  • You can delete transcriptions at any time through the app or Finder

OPTIONAL ICLOUD SYNC

If you enable iCloud sync in Scriber Pro:

  • Transcription records sync between your own Apple devices through your iCloud account
  • Apple's standard iCloud privacy protections apply
  • Data remains encrypted and accessible only to you
  • You can disable iCloud sync at any time in app settings

We do not have access to your iCloud data — this sync happens directly between your devices and Apple's servers using Apple's CloudKit framework.
